Adult ADHD
ADHD as it presents in adults, often with less overt hyperactivity and more internalized symptoms like disorganization, forgetfulness, and emotional dysregulation.
Overview
Adult ADHD involves the same core condition as childhood ADHD but often presents differently, with more internalized symptoms and different challenges.
Detailed Description
While ADHD begins in childhood, many adults weren't diagnosed until later in life. Adult ADHD often involves less obvious hyperactivity (though internal restlessness may persist) and more challenges with organization, time management, emotional regulation, and relationships. Adults with ADHD may struggle with work performance, financial management, maintaining relationships, and self-care. However, many adults with ADHD also develop coping strategies and may excel in areas that interest them.
